Staying home ideas to make more special?
Nothing, I’m not in a festive mood. Plus I have two teen boys who don’t care about any of that. Yesterday I thought about ordering some 2021 hats/tiaras but realized today was New Year’s Eve and said forget it, it’s too late, so I went to Costco and picked up some appetizer type foods and I’ll make a batch of soup later. I’ll make the kids watch the ball drop with me and then I’ll probably go to bed and they will resume video games or movie watching.
Ordering sushi, but the thought of making cocktails isn’t appealing TBH. Ready for sober January and a new start, although I know it will be the same old, same old. We are not getting our vaccines anytime soon, people still hurting from an economic perspective, not sure when or if I will ever see my vulnerable parents in person.
Baking with the kids today. They want shortbread and Rosemary focaccia. Other than that will probably take it easy. I’m not sure I’ll be able to stay up so late to watch the hall drop.
White Castle sliders and mozzerella sticks - letting the kids have sparkling cider.
Making homemade pizza dough, Italian wedding soup and champagne cake. Secretly hoping the kids fall asleep before midnight
|
We are eating three course meal from Neighborhood Provisions, dancing, playing games and then watching Netflix special: Death to 2020.
Same as we do every year except takeout instead of going to a restaurant. We’ll watch a family movie and I’ll do my best to stay awake for midnight.
Fancy at-home dinner, a bottle of champagne, and cards against humanity.
I’m making a bunch of snacks, dips and appetizers to enjoy. I may make some pizza if we don’t end up ordering something for dinner. The kids all want to try to stay up so we will probably play some games or watch a movie. It should be a fun evening.
We’re having a big spread of appetizers for dinner, and pizza for the kids. Champagne for us, sparkling cider for the kids. Then playing Nintendo together until we all fall asleep way before midnight.
I have a group of college friends that used to get together for New Year's every year (starting like our sophomore year of college). Over the years it became "sometime over winter break" and less people made it due to family obligations, moving away, etc. This year we're doing it on New Year's for the first time in probably 15 years and we can all make it since it's on zoom.
Call and offer job support to my struggling friends and relatives. Not a time to celebrate
Celebrating!! And taking out the trash.

Toasting the death of 2020. Sushi and wine.
