| To make up for this complete waste of a school year. These kids are so far behind. |
I’m not against summer school for the kids. I think it would great. But what are the kids behind? |
| I agree with PP, what are the kids behind? Benchmarks set before COVID. So long as my kids get through this year, I will be happy. |
| There was never school equality. Now that people who perceived their children as being well ahead of others are starting to feel like they are falling behind it’s finally an issue being heard. Families at schools that were not receiving an equal education have been crying out for years about lack of resources and helpful teachers. |
| We need universal do over. Everyone repeats this grade. No exceptions. |
Heck no! That’s crazy. |
Behind Common Core and behind their own potential. Young brains are open to and eager for stimulation. You can never fully make up for missing thst opportunity. |
Which, to me, means schools should open as soon as this current peak lets up a little. But forget summer school and do-overs! My kids — like many others — are miserable right now with DL. It would be cruel to make them sit through this same material again rather than letting them have a fun summer of camp playing with other kids and doing active things. |

All for universal summer school on a voluntary basis IF it's in-person.
Otherwise, just more punishment for kids who are being turned off school. |
This. I want DC to stay out of school and do nothing until in-person starts. DC is no behind, but rater 2 years ahead. |
| If it is safe for in-person, I would send my ES kids. No need to repeat the grade for everyone. |
| Sure but it needs to be in person and it needs to be heavy on socialization and outdoor time and physical exertion. These kids are literally turning into couch potatoes. |
That’s not school, that’s a sports camp. |
| Who's gonna be working summer school? ahaha |
|
Why do we want summer school?
Why have our kids fallen behind? My kids would like to go to camp this summer...if it happens. I thin that would be just as valuable if not more than a little school. But again, what did they fall behind in? |
