Pretty common actually. Then there's depression, and even psychosis.

People should know about these things.

Barbara Byers, MD specializes in this https://capitalmentalhealth.com/about-us/
I see her for PMDD, but most patients are more similar to you.
She has really helped me and I wish that I had known about her and reached out for help when I had crippling PP anxiety.
Wishing you all the best!

How could you not know it existed? Post partum anxiety is pretty common as is post partum depression.

OP. Try GW. They have a doctors and counselors that specialize in post partum mental health issues.

Definitely exists and is probably a main source of tension in marriages in the first year of the birth of a baby when neither spouse knows what is going on. -Midwife

Reviving this thread because I'm in the search for a therapist but need to use insurance. I found a few lists of therapists and not a single one was in network for Aetna insurance. When I tried searching my insurance site for providers nothing came up for perinatal anxiety or depression or postpartum anxiety/depression. Is there a search term I'm missing? Should I just go for someone who treats depression and anxiety in general or keep looking for someone specializing in PPA?

Look for a woman who treats adult women with depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and life transitions or some language like that.

I currently see a therapist here: https://postpartumwell.com/rates-insurance/

Thank you. Fingers crossed, the one therapist that the website says is in network comes up on the Aetna site as out of network. I sent a message and we'll see what they say.
