Experience with Foxhall OB-GYN. Looks like Beckerman and Sarafian will not take my ins.

Anonymous
I am currently a patient of Dr. Newman at Capital Women's Care. And while I really like him and trust him. I am not so keen about his partners--Picco and Bajaj. I was thinking about switching to Foxhall, but now I see that Beckerman and Sarafian are no longer accepting my insurance. It seems like people like Pardo. Does anyone have experience with the other new doc--Steny, I think?

Please let me know your thoughts on Foxhall.

I have been going to Dr. Sarafian for years...she is great. I have not met Stany or Pardo yet. I don't think that Drs. Lightfoot and Stany are board certified. The receptionist told me that new patients will see all three.

Actually, Stany is board certified. Could not find any information on Lightfoote but her bio does state that she is "board eligible".

You are right. Her bio on the website does not mention it but I just called the office to confirm. Have you been to her? I would love any feedback on Pardo or Stany!

Does anyone know if Lightfoote's bio is just outdated?

I LOVE Dr. Pardo (this is based on one meeting, which is saying a lot becasue I take a while to warn up to most doctors). I love her manner, she is very open and I just got really good vibes from her. I met Stany once, I was not trilled and have decided to reserve judgement until I have an OB appointment with her. You did not ask about Lightfoote but since she is part of the threesome I thought I would give you my thoughts on her as well. She is my regular GYN and I really like her in that capacity, currently unsure if I like her an an OB, seems a bit rigid and tends to parrot the Sibley protocol.

Dont know, but I ran a search on her on the AMB database and she was not listed.

I called Foxhall earlier today to ask which obs (that take insurance) are board certified (I'm not even sure how important this is...) and they said that Stany and Pardo are board certified but did not say Dr. Lightfoot.

how is it even possible that Dr. lightfoote is not board certified? She delivers at sibley and does c sections. would they really let he do that if she wasn't board-certified?

On Foxhall's website under "Care Philosophy" it says "We are all board-certified physicians..."

I had lots of appointments with Pardo and Lightfoote during my pregnancy, and really liked both--they took all my concerns seriously but were also laid back, which I needed. Dr. Stany had just started when I went into labor, so I only met her during active labor, but I found her cheerful, knowledgeable, and reassuring (and this was while I was in intense pain). I highly recommend all three, from my experiences.

She does not have to be board certified to practice, but I agree that it is odd that she isn't. Based on her bio its seems that she passed all the required test so why not go the extra step and get certified.

I really like both Pardo and Lightfoote a lot. Pardo did my c-section and I felt like she really paid attention and made my scar as small and low as possible. She was also wonderful in my post-partum and every appointment after. Lightfoote was great in the hospital and and also in appointments. In general, I felt like both are empathetic and supportive.

Love, love, love Dr. Lightfoote. Delivered my last baby and was so wonderful in the hospital. Saw Pardo during preg and did not care for her--also found her assessments and/or advice to be different from what Beckerman would say. Have no experience with Stany.

It is my understanding that you can still choose Beckerman or Sarafian (who is FABULOUS) but you pay and submit for insurance reimbursement--you might check with your insurance co to see what they would pay--it might be more than you think, at least for OB visits.

I too, though, am concerned about the dwindling number of docs at Foxhall.
