Moving to the area from nyc next week.. working off Dupont Cir, but living in Alexandria. Any suggestions for daycare either in Alexandria, near Pentagon or near Dupont Cir.? As you can see, I'm still trying to figure out what would be the best way to commute with DS or have daycare close to home. Problem is that I need start date to be first week in April and having trouble with availability. Any help is greatly appreciated! |
What part of Alexandria? My provider is in Mt Vernon and is great. |
Good luck getting in somewhere because the waiting lists are years long, but St. Anthonys Day School in Old Town is good. Also, the American Day School, which is new, is also good (I heard). |
I wouldn't pay attention to the "years long" comment. It is true that there are waiting lists, but you may be able to get your older child into a daycare first more easily and then get the baby in as a sibling priority. Many daycares give first priority to siblings. After age 2, the class sizes get a little bigger in daycare. You may also want to contact www.infanttoddler.com. They are a great resource for in-home daycare, which you could use while you wait for a center-based daycare. Bright Horizons just opened in Crystal City, but they do have a long waiting list. I also found them to be very "corporate" and hard to work with. Check out Arlington County's guide to daycares. There are a number in Crystal City, which may be on the way in to work for you. There is a cooperative daycare in Crystal City (can't remember the name) that is supposed to be great - several friends from work go there.
Good luck! |
We are in a nanny share that is getting ready to end (next week). Our son in 2 years 0ld (in May) and we the nanny has been with us for over a year. She is wonderful. We live in North Alexandria (right by the Pentagon). If you are still interested or in need of help, call or email me and we can discuss.
