If you have donor conceived children...

Have you registered on any of the sibling registry websites? We are debating whether this is a good idea or if we should wait till DC is 18 and wants to decide for themselves. Thanks for sharing any experiences!

I haven't and don't plan to unless there is a reason (e.g. finding out a genetic disease, etc) until my child can make that decision for himself. Right now I don't see any benefits to registering.

I have and we’ve had some contact with donor siblings. It’s been wonderful and has really helped to normalize being donor conceived.

There are lots of different paths!

How old was your DC when you registered and how old are they now?

I registered before my kid turned 1. The donor is known (not a close friend, but we have her name and address at the time), and know there may be siblings. The info will be there if my child wants it and we’ll be very open with her. People are connected in so many different ways. Seems like a nice way for her to possibly have a bigger network. And if she disagrees, and doesn’t want it, that’s fine too.
