Charlie is nice, especially for a kid. (Charles is fine too; not every name needs a nickname!)

I have a Charles and while most use the nickname we chose (Charlie) there are quite a few who have their own nickname for him. One calls him Carlos (Spanish teacher), another says chuck which has really grown on me, many call him an unrelated nickname (it’s an animal name like wolf or fox). I love all the nicknames.

Charlie is my favorite boy name. Alas, I have all girls!
It’s completely anecdotal but I am a teacher and all the Charlies I’ve had were really sweet boys (probably a big reason the name is now my favorite).
