This is awesome. I hope someone reimburses him for the money he spent on the supplies. It's really unfortunate that teachers have to come out of their pockets sometimes.

I think it is obscene, not unfortunate. The disparity in resources across schools in our city and beyond is shameful.

Its really not a sometimes. At least where I teach east of the park, it is an ALWAYS. We get $200 to use at office depot (at the standard prices, where are pretty high), and then spend our own money on everything else that makes the classroom work for students.
