Help - APS MacBook VPN Hotel WiFi Issue

Anonymous
Unable to get any response from APS so asking here. We’re at a hotel right now and its WiFi has a login page. DS’ APS MacBook does not connect to the internet even after it gets past the login page. He said the APS VPN is blocking it. He’d tried to contact the IT department since Sunday but hasn’t heard back yet. If your kid had this issue before but was able to get around please share the solution. I’ll post back if APS gets back to him.

Can you use a phone as a hotspot and connect that way instead?

Yes that what we’re doing now. But we don’t have unlimited data so it could become a quite expensive workaround if APS doesn’t help solve it...

You need to follow the vpn and WiFi setup instructions exactly. Similar thing happened when my kids had to come to work with me in the spring. I had to follow the instructions exactly (there are a couple of steps where you have to repeat it an ungodly number of times) in order to connect.

Thanks. Was it a MacBook too or was is an iPad? My ES DD has no problem connecting to this same WiFi on her APS iPad.

Child logging into class from a hotel out of state but you’re demanding teachers to go back into brick and mortar? Joke tells itself.

Don't forget how outrageous is it is that APS hasn't resolved the issue.

To be fair they may be housing insecure or need to be in a hotel for a reason that isn’t traveling during a pandemic

If you're housing insecure, request a wireless hotspot.

sometimes you have to use your phone as a hotspot and then connect to hotel wifi to accept the terms and conditions page. google hotel wifi and you should be able to find the page the wifi is sending you too.

Kinda hard to do when you're already out of town. Can people just post helpful information rather than blaming the family?

Oh, I forgot. This is DCUM.

Setting up your router with a VPN is not as complicated as you think. If you want complete protection for the entire network of connected devices, it's well worth the effort. Whether it's your home, office, or business, your VPN router can bring the benefits of a VPN connection to as many users as you want. I went to bestvpnprovider, and I chose one of the best VPN for torrenting on the market which are, and I use one of them. It helps a lot when you have a business, and they must be maximized when needed. Do you use VPN for security?
