Framingham/Marlborough Apartments

Twenty five year old son is moving to Boston area for job. Job will be in Marlborough, he is thinking about getting an apartment in Framingham so he can easily go into Boston on the weekends and walk to restaurants locally. His budget for a 1 bedroom is 2K, less would be great. Any suggestions on where to start the search, any other towns he should be looking at?

I'd actually look at Worcester for a more urban environment. Framingham is very suburban, though it is a city. Or move closer to Boston - try Newton and do a reverse commute down the Pike. He may be bored silly near Marlboro.
