Why were referrals due so early this year?

Does anyone know why referrals were due so early this year?

Our school AART mentioned that since there is no CogAT this year, there was no reason to wait.

Ours said because they would need more time than usual to complete the files and GBRS. They anticipated a lot more referrals because there was no CogAt. We just got an email that they have over 100 referrals for 2nd grade! So after winter break there will be two half days of asynch work so teachers can help prepare the files.

What the hell? Why can't they do this on Mondays?

Wow, 100 referrals from one school?? Is your second grade class huge or is that almost everyone in the entire grade?

So when will we know? And do they send out only acceptances and not rejections?

That is insane. That must be 95% of the class.

I feel like there is a detail missing here. 100 referrals for one center school (multiple elementary schools) or for one elementary school? That's wild.

I could definitely see this happening at our center school (haycock).

Curious too. My ES has about 85 kids total.

Over 100.

We were also told that the early date was to give them more time to create the files/GBRS since it's harder to know the kids and gather samples during distance learning.
