Opk positive this morning. Two dark lines. So now what? Sex today and tomorrow?
Also. Today is day 16 of cycle, I have 27 days cycles, is the luteal phase ok? Wish me luck! |
| I would have sex today, tomorrow and the next day, as long as you don't have any male factor issues. Do you normally ovulate on day 16 of your 27 day cycles? If so, then I would recommend talking to your OB about using progesterone supplements. If you just happened to ovulate late this month, then I wouldn't worry about it. |
| Agree with PP. If day 17 is your normal ovulation, then 10 days is a bit short for the luteal phase, and it might be worth looking into that. Do you chart? |

Like I said, I am clueless. First month trying to do anything, but I am not taking temp. Will start next month, and am doing some reading on it now.
I used to think I ovulated on day 14, by ewcm and pain on my side.... Do you recommend I buy a basal body thermometer? Or is a regular one enough? And if my OPK was + today, that means I ovulate tomorrow? |
| Buy a basal body thermometer. The regular ones only go out to one decimal place and you need it to go to two decimal places to temp accurately. You should ovulate within 24-36 hours of getting your surge (+OPK). Temping is the best way to tell when you ovulated. Based on temps, I have sometimes ovulated the same day I have surged! |

Thank you. I will do. They sell them at any CVS, Rite Aid, Target?
I do hope i ovulate today, otherwise from what i am reading my luteal phase might be too short this cycle.... Thanks again. |
| Any pharmacy or Target should have them. In order to determine if your luteal phase is too short, you really need to know when you ovulate. I would not assume that yours will be too short this month just because you think you will ovulate today and normally have 27 day cycles. I normally have 26-28 day cycles and ovulate between days 12 and 14, which gives me a 14 day luteal phase. Last month, I surged and ovulated on day 15 and had a 10 day luteal phase. On this cycle, I got my surge today on day 15 and I do not know if my luteal phase will be a normal length or not. Granted, my circumstances are a little different (had a m/c in Dec), but my body should be getting back to normal - including having a normal luteal phase. In general, ovulation can be off by a day or two in either direction on a cycle and the luteal phase might be as well, but overall they should be pretty consistent in length each month. Good luck! |

I had a m/c in October too. Only now TTC again and trying to figure this out, wish I had done it sooner.
Good luck to you too. Post in 2 weeks and let me know how it went for you! |
I've always temped with a regular thermometer and it works fine. Chart on Fertility Friend and they will help you figure out your ovulation patterns. |
