Did anyone catch this in the Chancellor's email sent this afternoon?

"All schools are preparing reopening plans to share with their school community in January and will open for in-person programming at the start of Term 3, as health conditions allow."

I know it doesn't mean much and could simply be referring to more/expanded CARES classrooms. Also the "as health conditions allow" means there's nothing to get excited about at this point. But still, any time I see something like this in writing it gives me a tiny thread of hope!

I agree. I'm fine with staying closed if it makes sense, but I at least would like to see planning for when / if it gets better.

All schools are in the process of putting together plans (I think they are due today).

Your school was supposed to have outreach to the community to gather the voice of the community.

The target that was communicated is for at least 25% of students to be back in the building in some manner.

Our school already told us they would not be able to meet in person demand for 3rd marking period, based on parent survey

This is a problem at a lot of schools. Some of these Principals pretended that parents didn't want to send their kids anyway because that was easier than admitting that WTU was hurting most families, but now the survey results clearly show demand to reopen. I do think that the idiotic parents who supported WTU then turned around and asked why we haven't reopened really hurt us too.

That’s not true. Even if only 50% of families want their kids in-person that still means that there aren’t enough staff members to accommodate the interest. Class sizes are limited, some kids will have to stay virtual.

Yes, we have an open LSAT meeting on Monday for this purpose.

Why is this do hard to understand? If you really want your child in school you need to hope a ton of parents pick virtual at your grade level. You DONT want a lot of interest in in-person. I know it seems backwards but if you have less interested there is a chance you get 4 days a week in person. The greater the interest, you will get 2 day hybrid or absolutely nothing because you lost the lottery for the seat.
