That time of year again... "would you like to add a $1 for xyz?"

I have no problem saying no thank you. It’s annoying.

I have been going with "Certainly NOT! Your company can do the charity and not ask customers to do it for them"

Yeah, that's why I just say no. The staff they pay minimum wage to usually doesn't care, so I don't take it out on them.

I have no issue saying no thank you to this. I think it's horrible for stores to force their cashiers to say this.

I say “not today”. I hate it too. I used to work retail at the holidays and it annoyed me no end that they made us do this. They track the numbers and it’s part of the managers report.

I do what Nancy Reagan said and just say NO!

Ignore.

I just found out about this being a scam! Is this common knowledge?

Maybe but I didn’t until a month ago. Ticks me off.

I just say, "Not today, thanks." I'm not going to take it out on some poor retail worker who doesn't set the policy, but I'm also not giving to some random "charity."

The cashier has nothing to do with it, but good job making their job even more annoying.

I am leary of charities anyway (I only give to CC) so when I'm asked the generic " do you want to round up or donate to XYZ" I definitely say "not today" b/c the cashier/store/company can't even tell me where or to whom my hard-earned $$ is going.

Being rude to the staff is unnecessary. If you’re so offended, contact the head of the company.
