Our kids just can’t stop themselves playing video games on their chrome books
We were pretty dismayed that they had built in links to games. They may have some educational value but are highly addictive and often result in obsessive behavior from our boys. Can anyone tell us how to block games on the Chromebooks? |
| I’m on the same boat and unable to block via chrome books, since it’s a MCPS resource |
| Show them how to get to the p0rn sites and the games won't be a problem. |
| How about making DL more engaging?? |
| Nothing but sympathy OP. Right there with you. |

How about monitoring screens? |
| How about MCPS reenact GoGuardian |
That ship has sailed because parents were worried it would record home usage so now it’s your job. |
| I think we can all relate to varying degrees. My kids, age 8 and 10 can embed YouTube videos into google docs and share it with friends so they are essentially chatting during class. I use an internet mesh system with has easier parent controls so I can block some sites but when their friends post videos on a google doc, I can’t do anything about it. I tried working in the same room as them but my work suffered. I try checking in on them and catching them in the act and punishing them but all that does is build resentment between us. My only solution is to pop in and tell them to get back on track throughout the day. Good luck! |

Buy a modern router (the mesh one is better) with parent control features, and block those sites there.
The one I use ( https://amzn.to/3769yDo ) also shows how long they spend on each of those sites. |
| The kids are going to do what they want. If they get bad grades then you can buck the system by blaming the instructor to the principal. They will change the grade if they fear losing their job. |
| Get your own computers. |

I love how Google made this super sophisticated Parental Controls system for child accounts, and then sold all the schools computers that bypass controls.
At home: take the device (or the charger, ha!) At school: Nope. MCPS says: better video games than fentanyl! |
