Curious as to what your child will be selecting and why. Have a daughter who is a sophomore at W-L. We signed up for the hybrid option back at the start of school, but she is now leaning towards DL. She’s had a good experience and great teachers with DL, but the only reason she was considering hybrid was to be with her friends. After seeing the video APS provided, she realizes it’s not going to be the experience she hoped for. |
Definitely staying with DL. There won't be any real socializing in hybrid anyway. |
DL. The video was a real eye opener for my kids and for us. |
Yup. It was all about the socialization for my son and that’s not happening with hybrid. He’ll get more socialization with DL than in person. APS video hammered that home. |
What did you possibly expect? People have been talking about hybrid as isolating and prison lite for months, most of day consumed with hygiene theater |
We’re going with the virtual option. Hate that you can’t change it if necessary, but doubt anyone will be back in school before Spring Break anyway. |
Staying DL here too. |
What were people expecting DL? The video was exactly as advertised |
Sorry expecting for hybrid. I’m truly curious what they thought would be different. |
sorry, can you post the link to the video? I've heard about it but not actually seen it |
Back in August we had selected hybrid for both kids (MS and HS). My MS kid really wants to go back but we plan to switch my HS to continue with DL. It has worked well so far and also we think the bus transportation sounds tedious. MS kid can walk so that’s much easier. |
My HS will switch to hybrid if it is available. For her, it's being in the room with other people who are doing the same thing. Better for her focus than being in her bedroom or at our kitchen table. And she'll be more likely to raise her hand and ask a question (if the teacher isn't distance teaching). More likely to also get asynch work done at the appropriate time if she can't come looking for a snack, play with the dog, check the mail, etc. |
I just want to chime in and say that there's no way in person is happening for high school (and probably middle school too) so it does NOT MATTER what you choose.

I think they will be in school in March. The vaccine is a game changer. Yes, I know kids can’t be vaccinated but we can get community spread down for this to be possible. Plus, there is lots of pressure to get back to school when numbers go down |
