Typical Covid Precautions in Daycares and Preschools

Anonymous
HI-

What are the usual precautions in daycares/preschools right now?

Masks for staff? Kids?
Health screening?
Any travel restrictions re red zones etc...

Thanks!

Yes to masks if over 3 it seems, daily health screenings and temp checks.

All exclude children with signs of illness although some allow clear, runny noses after a doc visit.

Our school excludes you for 14 days if you travel to a hot zone, but not all do. You will have to talk to each individual daycare/preschool you are interested in.

-Masks on all teachers
-Masks on children 5 and up. Encouraged for children 3-5
-No parents inside the building
-Temp check/health screening
-Fever or 2+ COVID symptoms, child can not return without a doctor's note
-Lunch brought from home, although I'm not sure if that's a COVID precaution or a budget cut...

Masks for everyone over 2 years old.

Temp check before dropping your kid off (parent and kid). No parents in the building.

No travel restrictions, though they required a negative COVID test before coming back into school, if you travel outside the state or are with people from outside your household indoors without masks/social distancing.

Exactly this, minus the lunch from home.
We are in VA (Loudoun County)

Masks on all kids over 1, although not strictly enforced for 2 year olds. Masks on all teachers. No movement from anyone from one class to another, including staff (e.g. no floaters, no common space mingling). Temp checks at drop off. Staggered drop off and pick up times. No parents in the building ever. Sick kids excluded until they show a negative test or a doctor's note.

Mine is a Montessori school, so some of the Montessori things are also curtailed, like the older kids being responsible for some of the cleaning and food prep. That is all done by teachers or staff now. Oh, and there are reduced numbers of kids too.

Over 1? The CDC says no masks on children under 2.

I’m surprised licensing is allowing that because it’s a safety violation.

But it helps prevent COVID spread which is IMO is most important right now. Under 1 should probably be avoided tho.

Goodness grief!! Probably?

It is unsafe and goes against what the cdc, aap and state licensing say regardless of what my opinion is. Children under 2 should not wear masks. It’s a sids case waiting to happen.
