I think my husband is pulling some BS with me. There are 2 places I want to go. I give zero fuc%s about your covid opinion, do that will be ignored. I'm going away for a week after Christmas. My two top destinations are Mexico City and Guachalito Beach, Colombia. My DH claims that due to his security clearance be cannot go to either place. We've been so the beaches in Mexico so many times I can't count. I believe he is scared and is pulling this security clearance card.
I understand that Cuba, Russia, Venezuela and such are vaunted, but Mexico city and Colombia? Seems like an excuse to me. This is also not a covid thing for him because he wants to go to Aruba. I'm just finding these run of the mill resort type vacations boring and they all just blend together. If I'm in Playa Del Carmen or Montego Bay it's all the same to me. Might as well be in south Florida as far as I'm concerned. |

You’re an idiot and a jerk as well. Yes, Mexico City and Colombia are places where security clearance might be restricted.
You should not be traveling. Period. |
| That part of Colombia might be restricted. But Mexico City is definitely not. |
| It’s not like you can force him to get on a plane. You sound insufferable. |
No, you are. He shouldn’t have a problem getting approved for Mexico. Colombia I’m not sure about. |
| Mexico may be a problem- I just canceled my trip there when they announced that they could deny re-entry to people who have been exposed (not even positive cases, just exposure). I’m not sure about Columbia but Mexico is level 3 on the state department warning list. I could definitely see some agencies not allowing travel to certain places right now. |

There are absolutely parts of Mexico that are restricted.
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/mexico-travel-advisory.html It does state that there are no restrictions for US Gov workers there but travelers should exercise increased caution. |

| OP, if all you have ever done in terms of travel is the resort destinations you mentioned, then you have absolutely no business visiting Mexico City OR Colombia, security clearance and COVID considerations aside. You sound low class and trashy. Work on that first, and then you can consider higher end travel. Good luck! |
| FYI the CDC started warning Americans NOT to go to Mexico this week. |
| Depends on the security issues in the place. If your husband has a security clearance and works for a federal agency, they can deny travel to some spots. Look and see if there are any State Dept warnings about travel to Mexico City and Colombia. |

Team husband here. Covid aside, these destinations might be "frowned on" without being actually prohibited, if you see what I mean. There are the official restrictions and travel advisories, then there is his own office culture, and possible strategy for promotion. Surely you don't want to put his career in jeopardy, OP? |

I live in Mexico City and am associated with the US Embassy. Travel here is okay; to other parts of the country it is not.
I know you don't care about COVID, which I find careless and terrible for a number of reasons. Are you aware testing rates are something like 60-70% + ? |
|
Wow, lady. You sound just terrible. Back off. Don't travel because your husband says it's not a good idea for his work.
Try to pretend you're a reasonable person who cares about her husband's opinion. I know you don't, but pretend because otherwise I see divorce in your future. |
| Both are restricted at my level of clearance. Also, we're not allowed to travel outside of a certain mileage anyway. Neither of these trips would be allowed for me currently. |
