New bilingual school

Anonymous
I Recently heard that a new bilingual school is coming to ward 7 this upcoming year. Does anyone know any information about the school. I was wondering if it was an existing immersion school expanding or a completely new school. Also curious about the grade levels they will open with.

It's a new school: "Global Citizens will start off offering Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 during the 2021-2022 school year." https://globalcitizensschool.org/

Anyone know where in Ward 7? Can't find location info on their website.

If they have one (may not yet) it will be available on the PCSB website. Schools often have their charters approved without a location specified but before a lease is signed/bldg is purchased they must have that site approved.

Just checked and not on the PCSB wenbsite. And also looked at their application, which proposes Ward 7 or Ward 8. So could really be anywhere across the river. I would think they’d want to announce soon because who will rank a school in the lottery that doesn’t have a location yet???

Unfortunately that has happened before with several charter schools who moved locations. It's stressful!

Virtual EdFest is coming up. Plan to visit and ask if they know anymore now than they have made public so far.

Global Citizens charter school held summer and weekend virtual classes in Mandarin Chinese. The school gave school supplies and a mask.

Their free virtual language classes for preschoolers really impressed me!

If they don't have a location by the deadline, they can still have people join their waitlist, they just can't have matches. Seeing as it's a pretty small enrollment for the first year, I think they'll be able to find a space. It's common for schools to move into a bigger building as they grow.

New school. Our principal from Mundo Verde is going to be the principal there. It will be in Ward 7.

Sigh. More leadership turnover is the last thing Mundo needs.

I am surprised this is not being discussed elsewhere on the forum. This former MV parent is not going to start the Mundo-bashing, but it's a strong message. Second principal to leave in 1.5 years.
