What outdoor classes are available right now?

DD has been spiraling down with anxiety and depression. Her therapist strongly recommended she participated in weekly outdoor activities with peers (socially distancing and wearing masks) among other things mentioned in the treatment plan.

What outdoor classes are available right now for a 6th grader? We're in MoCo but will consider anything at this point. She enjoyed Girls on the Run last year (there's no GOTR until next Spring) but she's not good in sport.

Pls be kind with your comments. It's been a rough period for our family. Thank you.

Could you start a running club for her and her friends? Meet 2xs per week at the closest high school track.

I am sure there are outdoor yoga classes and boot camps.

If you can, maybe invest in a fire pit or movie projector so she can host friends outdoors.
Also, faith-based youth groups may be a good option.

Church youth group. National Presbyterian is offering outdoor youth group on Sundays and they play games, talk, etc. I’m sure other churches and synagogues are offering something similar.

Calleva is doing some outdoor classes, I think.

There is a girls softball class at Turtle Park (near AU) for middle school girls at 11:30 on Saturdays. I think if you just show up, you can talk to the coach about the details. A friend saw them when they were there with their son and asked one of the girls about it. We might try to go check it out, too.

I think VA is being less strict about sorts than DC or MD is. You might look into sports classes there.

Squash on Fire is doing youth squash classes (if you feel comfortable being inside - they do require masks).
