A FINE LINE between being hungry and over-eating - SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

Anonymous
I crossed my "fine line" this afternoon at work and went from being starving to being so full I am SICK and feel like I'm about to throw up. Of course, TUMS are at home and I have nothing at the office with me. All I want to do is get out of these clothes and lie in bed. Of course, DH is out of town and I will be taking care of our toddler tonight while feeling like a blimp/beached whale. Anyone have suggestions on how to NOT overeat again and what to do when you feel like this? I really feel like I'm going to pop or puke.

My only tip: Never get to the point of "starving". I snack. Quite a bit. I try to snack on healthy food, because I find that when I snack, I am much more likely to eat a small/reasonable/healthy lunch. When I don't snack, I am STARVING... and then I'm more inclined to inhale an entire pizza.

Agree with PP, eat small amounts throughout the day if you can. It may require more forethought the night before to makes sure you have things for work, but it's worth it not to feel so bad.

I have the same issue, seems like I need to eat every two hours to get away from feeling like I am starving. Its really hard because I am not generally a snacker.

Sending many sympathies your way, I often overeat because I'm starved! This mostly happens after dinner for me, so I can do some pelvic rocks in front of the TV while DH does the dishes...

Try adding more protein to your snacks and diet in general, so that you are not eating empty calories. Also whole grains are digested slower and make you feel full longer, but for a while I could not stand them as they made me queasy.

Adding to the chorus: I spent the first few weeks of pregnancy famished--then turning into a ranging loon until I ate, which was of course going to be an overeating session (and if nothing else, eating too quickly). You need to get ahead of the hunger. Have healthy snacks around so you can snack on those in between meals.
