Santa Cruz neighborhood for family

DH has new all remote job, so we are leaving East Bay to be near the ocean, specifically Santa Cruz. We go there at least once a month so know the tourist part well, but where is the best neighborhoods for families with kids, decent (but don’t have to be amazing) schools? I run an Etsy shop, so I would look for other WAHM/SAHMs for playground meetups (once pandemic ends of course)

Budget is $1.2M, we need at least a townhouse with yard (dog).

Santa Cruz actually has one of the top high schools - Pacific Collegiate is a charter school. Capitola is lovely.
