Pain in between breasts - sternum area?

Anonymous
I'm 31 weeks pregnant and am having pain in between my breasts - I guess that is called the sternum (yep, I googled it). Has anyone else had this? Is it from the expanding belly and things pushing upwards? I have a doctor's appt on Thur and will of course ask about this... but wondered if anyone else had dealt with this in the third trimester?

i wonder if it could be indigestion? (heartburn?)
def. ask doctor, but could you maybe try a couple of tums?
hopefully it's nothing too serious, good luck.

I had this early in my third trimester and it lasted for weeks. My doc said it was the baby pushing up on my sternum and the cartilage at the tip. It was quite painful for a while. However, it did eventually go away, most likely because the baby dropped. Made wearing underwire bras a pain for a bit though.

i had this from month 5 onwards. it was concentrated more under my breasts and only on the right side. the dr said it was my expanding uterus and it was hitting nerves in my rib cage. i found that wearing a wireless sports bra was a must to minimize the irritation. sure enough as soon as thr baby dropped at 38 wks or so, the pain went away.

I've had this too, same spot, since early on. I find that it's worse when I wear a bra, and when I'm sitting as opposed to standing or laying down. All the snow days were a real relief for me in this regard.

Thank you so much for the responses. Just like 08:34, it is better if I am laying down and not wearing a bra. I swear by the time I'm done having children my breasts will hang to my waist. They are already so droopy now and I take my bra off at home whenever possible, so they aren't "supported" as much as they probably should be. But thank you again for the responses. I feel better in the interim. Will follow-up and let you all know what doc says, but I'm sure it will be what PPs said their docs said!

OP this is PP 23:32. you may want to consider buying "sleep bras" to wear when you are at home. they have light support (wireless). i couldn't wait to get into them each evening when i returned home. also i found using gold bond powder on the affected area helped. the area was so sore it felt like it was sunburned. the powder cooled the irritation.
