| The winter is really causing dry skin....any recommendations for something more moisturizing than healthy defense? please recommend drug store stuff. i don't want to buy $200 cream. |
|
I would stick with Healthy Defense in the morning because of the sunscreen. Then maybe get a more heavy duty cream at night and early evening - maybe put on around dinner when you are home for the evening, and then again before bed. I like Alba moisture cream for night - I tend to go for the more "organic" products but you can find it CVS or Whole Foods.
Also make sure your cleanser isn't drying you out. Don't wash in the morning, just at night. Cetaphil is pretty gentle. |
| This may sound crazy but the only thing that keeps my face from itching and peeling all winter long is a thick layer of aquaphor at night. |
|
OP here, I already use cetaphil and i drink a ton of water. Its probably the winter combined with BF.
I may try the Aquaphor. |

I use Neutrogena Intensified Day Moisture. It has SPF 15 and works well on my skin. I usually get it at Target or Wal-mart for around $10.

| In the winter I use the Oil of Olay cream w/ SPF and the lotion in the summer. I'd be surprised if Neutrogena didn't make an equivalent cream version of Healthy Defense. Might have to order it online, as most drugstores have a pretty slim selection in my experience. |
| Aquaphor or Cetaphil ointments work for me. Used just after a shower and daily. |
Are you eating enough healthy fats? Especially if you are BFing - I love avocado and I think it's helped my dry skin this winter, I eat it a lot. You can also get it from olive oil. My mom is going through menopause and having a lot of trouble with dryness because of the hormonal changes and she SWEARS avocado has helped. |
| OP, the weather is very cold and dry. Do you have a humidifier attached to your furnace? If so, turn it up. Makes a huge difference. |
| My derm recommended Cerave. It is similar to Cetaphil lotion, but I find it a little better (more moisturizing and longer lasting). For the crinklier skin around my eyes, though, I use heavier stuff like Eucerin cream or creamy petroleum jelly. |
| OP here, I've been using the Eucerin both day and night and its been great! (I also did a brown sugar scrub to get rid of the dry skin). |
| Cetaphil all the way - I use the wash and cream now. Aquaphor was too greasy for me. |
| You might want to double up--put on the cetaphil, then the sunscreen. |
I was just going to suggest Eucerin until I saw this! |
