Things to do besides watch TV

Anonymous
DH and I have 2 young kids and at the end of the day we typically watch 30-60 minutes of TV and go to bed.

What are some other good things we could do together besides TV, which I'm bored with lately?

Please only non-sexual answers. We're not having issues in that department.

Take a walk, do a workout together, play a card or board game, plan something together (vacation, etc.), listen to a podcast, bake something together, paint night, just talk...

I literally made myself a list of things to do and wrote it on my white board the other day to get myself out of the habit of just watching Hulu on my MacBook every night. (I don't even have a TV!)

Puzzles--crossword, jigsaw, solo games like cat stacks or rush hour etc, solitaire etc. I really like Games World Of Puzzles magazine.

Embroidery

Workout snacks--grab the dumbbells and do bicep curls or bent rows or 50 squats or whatever.

Yoga

meditation

Read

Write letters

metal stamping

learn to paint with watercolors

spoon carving (I took two hour classes a year ago on metal stamping, wood burning and spoon carving and haven't done them since.)

walk or bike ride depending on the weather

menu planning

mani-pedi (I need this, it's not an indulgent thing at this point.)

Assume you mean after kids are in bed, so you can't go on a walk. Do you have a fire pit? SIt around it and talk. Play MadLibs, Uno, or a short board game. Twister!

Prep for tomorrow night's dinner together.

I think doing puzzles as well as playing board games are both excellent ideas.

How about also learning how to play something brand-new?

I have always longed to learn how to play chess ♟.
And also Scrabble.

We read or play board games. Sometimes we listen to an album all the way though. DH is really into jazz and is trying to expand my aural palate.
