Soccer for old guys ---- 60+ league?

Anonymous
Hello,
I have a neighbor who is much older and used to play soccer when he was in his 20's, 30's and 40's. According to the stories that he tells, he was quite the player and could play with the best of the best.

The lockdown has really restricted his life and his wife thinks he is depressed. He won't talk to anyone or go outside and do anything. I went over and asked him if he wanted to play soccer and his eyes lit up.

Does anyone know where an older guy can go play soccer? Maybe in a league or a pick up game? I don't know the first thing about soccer so was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

Thank you!

I am in my late 40s and my parents think I'll have a better chance at the next level if I play up a few years

I see what you did there, haha. Keep in mind this is a DC Soccer forum across the board, not just for youth, so that might have flown right over his head. Funny though.

Taking a 60+ depressed male into a pickup game?

Take the guy to a doctor first.

Tearing an acl is not great for preexisting depression

If he’s telling stories , they are justthat

God, I used to play against the Ex-Cavs in the open league back in the day. Thanks for making me feel really old.

LOL! I played in the Over 50 league for a couple of years. When I was 50, 51, 52 I could out run most of the 58 and 59 year olds! Now I'm waiting to make my come back in the Over 60 League!

I am 76 years old, but if you look at me and see my skills playing defense as always did , I can stop anyone. Everyone is surprised how I play. So, I am looking a team for a try out and if I look good, please connect me with a team in Orlando. I live in Casselberry. I would love it to return. Contact me at 407/756-0246. Just for a try if it doesn’t work, I will appreciated anyway. I have my own insurance, that eliminate a problem, thanks,
Jose Carnero. Leave a message after contact me.

This is a dumb post. What is a doctor going to tell you about an ACL tear that has not happened yet? They cannot predict that -- at all. If you said heart check up -- sure. But ACL, you are just being ageist.
