Best OB for C-Section

Anonymous
Does anyone have recommendations on a great OB for a planned (medically necessary) C-Section? I'm hoping for someone who takes their time separating muscles and does meticulous stitching. Some C-Sections I've seen look like a slash and burn situation even when they're not emergent. I'm willing to travel outside of DC.

Seriously? I had a medically necessary planned c, my OB at capital women’s care did a great job. Just stick with your OB.

Get a plastic surgeon to close you up. Insurance probably won’t cover it, but you may be able to find some arrangement in CA or NYC.

OP-You would best having this conversation with your OB. I’m sure they would be happy to refer you to another colleague.

All my orthodox Jewish friends in New York use him for c sections and pay out of pocket if necessary. He is the known top doc for c sections especially if you want to have a lot of kids after having a c section.

And he's African American as well. Truly a brilliant medical mind, and good hands.

I'm glad you've had positive birth experiences, but unless you've had a bad delivery experience or work in medicine then you don't know what you don't know. Women are expected to put up with subpar care and not ask questions just because it's obstetrics.

Perfect! Thank you for sharing.

That was my attitude the first time and it did not serve me well. I'm doing my research and will be very picky when selecting an OB this time around.

That's a good suggestion. I will keep this in mind.

I’ve had 3 c sections, and no issues at all. You can barely see the scar and my stomach looks pretty much the same as before I had kids (toned and flat, no weird muscle thing) I just used my OB from Capitol women’s care—nobody special.

You are correct to do so. My mom is an l&d nurse for 35 years and she made me ask my OB a list of questions. She wanted to make sure that should I ever need a c section, it would be properly sewn up. Some doctors take shortcuts but they'll be afraid to once you ask about it and show your awareness.

Mine did a hack job and I had complications from it. I went to an MFM for my next one and it was so much better. A lot of OBs are terrible surgeons.
