I have been reading and commenting here long enough to know that people are eternally complaining about the quality of posts and that it ebbs and flows around here, but wth is up with the childish and frenzied posts lately, usually of the personal insult variety? Like “Either that was some prom you went to or your life went downhill from there. Stop living in the past! Get out of your parents‘ basement and have a better life! You can do it!” There’s just a level of personal venom that never seems warranted, and while I’m sure it’s multiple posters, it all sounds like the same person.
Is it just conservatives licking their wounds and taking it out on everyone? Is someone having a rough life and taking it out in a safer environment? Threads devolve in what feels to me like record time. You pretty much delete them whenever I report them, but gosh heck are there are lot. Any idea when it won’t be like overtired kids have gotten into their parents’ stash of DCUM? |
| What you’ve said is true. To be completely candid, I’ve become jaded and somewhat paranoid about troll posts. Not good, I know, but true. |

I have no idea when it will settle down. But I believe the tone reflects tensions caused by the pandemic and the elections. Covid especially has stressed people in different ways, creating a slew of antagonisms that didn't previously exist. Just report the childish stuff and, hopefully, folks will realize it is not acceptable.

| Locals know that things settle down then Republican administrations clear out of town. This is true for traffic, waiting in line at the grocery store, everything. Unfortunately these people can still access DCUM from wherever they are in the world, but I predict once Biden takes office, we will have a much more calm and mannerly city again, if history is any indication. I say this as someone who has experienced it first hand. |

Good lord what a pompous post. |
Live through a few cycles of this then get back to us. |
So true. Still have PTSD from the Bush years. Almost recovered under Obama, and these four years — I’ve no words... I’m hoping you are right again this time since I can’t be certain based on the 21st century experience alone. |
