Reopen california schools!!!

Anonymous
Governor Newsom's four kids are ALL back in class (because he can afford private and they can open no matter what tier!!!). But public schools are still closed for the most vulnerable students.

If you care about this issue and want all students, regardless of poverty status, to have an equal right to return to schools, please look at this petition.

Please share it with as many people as possible.

No. We were at just under 1%, but now cases are climbing. The last thing we need is to have our kids licking each other at school.

so public school kids have to be deprived of education but private school kids don’t?

OK, just FYI, my kid is at a private high school in SF and it is fully online and has been for the whole year. Not sure where Newsome's kids go, but it's probably the county it is located in, not that it's private.

Also thank the teachers' union. That is the biggest voice against opening. Not sure if they are right or wrong on this issue, but be assured, the CTA wields lots of power in Sacramento (I've gone against them on bills and it is tough).

We just opened in Los Angeles thanks to parental pressure. Didn’t even make it a week before we had a covid case!

Nope, he is in Sacramento in the purple tier. Science, evidence, proof all says that schools are safe. That's why NYC has been ins school for my months

I don't want them to reopen until it is safe. It is all about the logistics and most public schools can't reopen safely. Some privates can, some cannot.

My friend's ds is at a private high school and they are still doing DL. My child is at a charter high school and it is still DL. Construction seeing how stupid so many people are being about the virus I don't trust other families to follow the recommendations.

Rules don’t apply to the rich and well connected even if they make the rules. Privates should follow the same rules.

Actually many CAN open safely. Most have already invested in equipment and updates. They have formal protocols in place. They have conducted training. Many districts in CA are already back anyway. The one who waited too long have missed their opportunity and now will have to wait several months until we’re off the “purple” tier.

I cannot believe that newsom is stopping schools from opening now!!! This is awful!!!

I am miserable in the bay area. I know Palo Alto opened but I'm not there and I have multiple elementary school children suffering.

Sadly, the answer is yes, in CA and pretty much everywhere else.
