nausea from meds? OHSS?

Anonymous
My IUI protocol is 50mg clomid days 3-7, one inject of 75iu Gonal-F on day 9, and trigger on day 10. I also started Estrace vaginally on day 9.

Last night (day 10) I started feeling nauseated (about 24 hrs after the gonal-f injection). I didn't think much of it and went ahead and triggered around 11pm. I have continued feeling nauseated ever since. It's bad enough that I woke up several times during the night feeling sick to my stomach, but I'm not throwing up (yet).

I left a message for my nurse this morning & am waiting for a call back, but I am really afraid this is OHSS. I thought clomid was low-risk for that, esp. at only 50mg, and I only had one injectible dose, again at the lowest dose. I thought OHSS was more associated with stimming for IVF (?).

However, this is my 4th time on this protocol (though one time I didn't trigger) and I did not get nauseated from these meds before, which is why I'm worried.

Do you know what your estrogen level was yesterday? OHSS is associated with very high estrogen levels (in the 3-4000 range) and is typically accompanied by a very rapid weight gain (one person I know gained 23 lbs almost overnight with OHSS). I had one IVF cycle last year where I felt terrible (nauseous, very bloated) after egg retrieval and gained 6 lbs overnight. My nurse thought it could be OHSS, so my clinic had me do some of the usual OHSS remedies which include drinking gatorade exclusively and eating lots of protein (including protein shakes). Not sure the OHSS remedies did much for me, but I did feel better after a couple of days. BTW - I asked my RE if it was OHSS when I went in for transfer 3 days later and he said it was not OHSS based on e2 levels and the weight gain I had. Could you have picked up a stomach bug of some sort?

Thanks PP. I talked to the nurse and you're right, she said my estrogen is not high enough for it to be OHSS. She also asked if I had flu symptoms like body aches, thinking it could be flu or a stomach bug. I don't have flu symptoms, just nausea, so I'm not sure what's going on. She also said it could possibly be the Estrace, but my lining was not great on Sunday so I need to stay on it if at all possible.
