| I was shocked, and happy, to see the email come out today. Hybrid model to start January 28! |
|
We are an upcounty MCPS family that has been thinking of moving a few miles north for a while.
This might finally do it for us. |
| So happy they made this decision for pre-k through 12 |
We moved from Mo Co over two years ago. While I hate DL and think that covid is overblown, the DL in FCPS has not been a disappointment. I taught in MCPS for many years. I remain in contact with friends/colleagues. My kids are in touch with friends. Based on what I'm hearing, instruction isn't as rigorous. Good move for us despite the obstacles stemming from this virus |
| Just moved as well. So glad to hear rational thought has prevailed. They have impressed me - everywhere you look at the science of learning Fredrick County teachers are there. CTTL at St Andrew’s school - Frederick County Public Schools. ASDEC for dyslexia - Frederick County Public Schools. Classical Education: Frederick has a charter school in elementary for that. They have IB as well. These are smarts I expected to find in MCPS - but alas, had to move with our feet. The best thing? Fewer cram schools. Rigor just means cram school to me now after MCPS experience. |
|
We'll see. DL sounds like it's been less awful than for many of our friends in other districts, and I have appreciated being able to plan for the whole first semester instead of waiting for a decision every time the BOE meets. So I'm optimistic about competence.
But...the county COVID cases are double what they were two weeks ago. Something seriously needs to change soon if we want to send our kids to school Jan 28. |
| Presumably, they voted to start hybrid January 28 IF the metrics are where they need to be, correct? If so, I wouldn’t hold your breath. |
| It’s never going to happen given where the case count is. |
| Good for them. Time for you to move there if you want it. |
Having both of my ES kids sitting next to me for DL, I honestly can't imagine FCPS having a worse offering than MCPS. But I'll take your word for it... |
Exactly. The numbers in western MD are awful. The worst in the state so I wouldn't think they would go back down low enough by then. |
| Revive. Families have to respond by tomorrow on whether to commit to hybrid or virtual starting Jan 28 (for the full rest of the year, it sounds like). FCPS refuses to commit to ANY metrics or health guidance for if and when they close. I don't understand how we can commit if they won't. What are parents thinking? |
| People aren’t figuring in vaccinations. The numbers will be better by the end of January than they are now. |
Wow. That must be really stressful. I don't know what I would do in that situation. What is the plan for hybrid? Will teachers be concurrently teaching students in the classroom and virtually? |
why? MCPS Is also planning to start hybrid in January. |
