In a fat funk - GAH!

Anonymous
Over the past year and a half I have lost 60 pounds by changing my lifestyle (and still have another 60 to go). I eat well, generally, and worked out a lot until I sustained an injury last fall - that really broke my momentum. I'm just now starting to get back into it all, and have put on about 10 pounds (most of that in the past 2 weeks it seems!!!). Prior to these snowstorms, I had put on 5 lbs all winter, then lost it all in January.

Anyway, I am totally in hibernation mode and feel so gross. Blah. I was on such a roll before.

I guess my post doesn't really have a point, I just wanted to vent. Any kind/motivational words are welcome.

I think it is great that you have lost 60 lbs -- that's amazing. Don't beat yourself up to pounds you have gained back; once your body is healed you can get right back into those habits that help you lose so much weight. Maybe you can investigate changes to your workout routine that can help motivate you?

Good luck, I have about 40-50 lbs to lose and I hope I can follow your example!

Don't feel bad...I gained a good 25-27 pounds between november and now. talk about a fat funk!

No sense in feeling badly about what happened, just gotta find that motivation to make the necessary changes. (that's the step I'm stuck on though I have lost a few of the pounds back. )

OP here - thank you so much for your posts - believe it or not, they really did help me.

My passion is running outside, which I'm unable to do right now in the cold weather. I do a variety of other things, but don't love-love-love them like I do running outside. I know that once spring arrives, I'll get right back into it. It's the food part that's killing me now - I cannot seem to control that part very well lately.

Heading to the gym tomorrow!

I hear you- I'm stocking up on all the comfort foods that I love but are actually healthy (hummus and tomatos, soups from Trader Joes) figuring that if I start overindulging on good for you stuff (as opposed to the all baked goods diet I've had for the past two weeks) I will be able to take the first step in losing all of this butterfat in my thighs.

I joined weight watchers online and it really helps.

First off I commend you for taking the initiative and loosing that weight on your own without meds or surgery! That is a MAJOR accomplishment!

I am in the same place as you. I was 30 pounds overweight before getting pregnant and I gained 80 during my pregnancy. I have lost 40 on my own, but hit a wall. I also did a lot of power walking in the spring, summer and fall, but I developed tendonitis in my hip and that threw me off. I finally joined a gym. I went yesterday and felt great when I was done. I am going again today and 2 more times this week. Then, once spring decides to grace us with it's presence, I will do a combination of gym and outside.

You will get back into it. It's very difficult sometimes, but you have come so far and you appear to be very determined! Good luck!

Sorry OP (and others). I've gone way up and way down over the last year-- a few times actually. Not good. A couple of instances of really bad news occasioned dramatic appetite loss, but when those worries got resolved well enough, the appetite returned, and life got really busy and...

And the last two weeks have not been any help for me either. Here's to a more active week than we've had recently!

OP-I am right there with you. I lost 60lbs kept it off for 5 years. Last summer, I lost my grandfather. It was devastating. I fell right back into the eating trap I was in 5+years ago.

I am trying but it sucks to be perfectly honest. But,I try to keep in mind, I have done it before I can do it again. I am trying to walk a mile a day at the gym which I find it very hard! I hope when Spring gets here(if it ever does!!) I will really be able to kick it in high gear!

Good Luck
