Dog has mixed up night and day

Anonymous
For the last week or so, our 5 year old shepherd mix has been refusing to go out during the day and instead is waking us up at 3am to play and/or go out. How can I get her back on a normal schedule? I feel like I have a newborn again.

Mandatory daytime walks. If you have to, give her a Benadryl at night to enforce sleep.

She lies down in the doorway and refuses to move. I don't know how to force her to go on walks.

Bring treats to tempt her. Does she like playing with other dogs? Maybe plan to walk with a friend and their dog to get your dog going.

I have never known a dog refuse a walk? The dog seriously doesnt want to go out?
I would put the leash on and force it.

I would look at your feeding times as well - they may be more conducive to day time sleeping / pooping.

We changed our dogs' feeding times and I make sure to take them out for one last pee/poop as late as possible.

Also, our dogs are really old and our vet mentioned that older dogs will start to mix up night and day. I don't know if 5 years old is considered elderly for a Shephard mix but age might be a contributing factor as well.
