My kid at daycare has coming up birthday, and I am planing to bring pizza ( I will not participate) for classroom kids & teacher to celebrate. This is allowed in daycare, and many kids have done it. I am thinking to pack some goodie bags for kids as well (all store bought, treats & toys), are you comfortable for your kids to receive them?

Yes. We also went trick or treating and picked up all the goodie bags people had at the end of their driveways, however. Happy Birthday to your child! |
Yup |
Yes definitely, a few kids in our daycare have done this, too. |
Yes. My kid is in a room with your kid all day anyway, so getting a goody bag isn't introducing any new risk. My 3 year old got a birthday goody bad last week and he was absolutely thrilled. |
Yes |
Yes, as long as it's all store bought. I do have a kid with a life-threatening peanut and tree nut allergy so I would ask you to please check with the teacher about allergies in the class. |
This is original poster. I used to do goodie bags for birthdays, and I just want to be more cautious because I will be the one putting all goodies in a bag. Cool! Our daycare does not allow kids to open any goodie bags till they get out of school, so parents can double check before kids know what are inside.

I would just make sure the goodies are age appropriate. Our daycare provider typically gives out goodie bags on Halloween , which is very thoughtful but it’s always filled with stuff I would hover give a toddler- e.g. tootsie pops, peanut m&ms, cheap plastic toys with tiny parts. Luckily they give to the parents on the way out but I end up having to hide it from my kids. |
Fine but it usually all gets trashed. |
Yes. But this year with Covid, I thought perhaps other parents would mind and just sent in cupcakes. |
I kinda hate goody bags but not a covid thing. I just hate all the candy and plastic junk. My kid gets too much sugar already and I just hate waste. I know I sound grumpy. Irl I just wish your kid a happy birthday and smile. I keep my irritation to myself. |
I'll be in your corner. I do goodie bags for my kids but try really hard to make it things not so junky or useless. It's tough. |
I agree. They are full of junk that no one uses. I have to throw most of it out because I have a baby at home and it's too small. Please save your money and just bring cupcakes. |
Pleaes can we all stop with the goodie bags. Not covid as previous poster, they are horrible for the environment. All single use plastic items that kids maybe play with once and then into a landfill for hundreds of years. |
