We live in DC and want to move to threburbs ... but we are casting a pretty wide net. Moving would mean we need a new child care arrangement for our 1 and 3 year old. Kids were in daycare pre covid and now we have a nanny but she wouldn't be able to stay with us due to transportation logistics. I imagine we could look for a nanny once we had an offer accepted, but I'd prefer the kids to go back to daycare and the older one to be in more of a preschool like setting (with daycare hours) and for obvious reasons we'd want them to be at the same place or very near by each other. I'm totally stressing because waists are long/impossible and I don't want to move as a result. Am I over reacting? |
Where exactly are you moving? When? |
You could move and get on waitlists then get a nanny until you get off the waitlist. |
Where and when are you moving? For the older kid, Spots open up in summer/early fall when kids move up to pk 4 or K |
I think you might be stressing over nothing. If you are casting a wide net you can’t set it up beforehand but there are so many options for kids that age. Just resign yourself to figuring it out once you have the house nailed down, and be flexible in understanding that it might not be the perfect setup immediately, but things change quickly and you can get on waitlists and whatnot once you know more. |
Thanks everyone. Wr could hire a nanny in our new location than transition to daycare but we wanted to avoid even more distruptuon for the kids. What are waiting lists like right now for one and three year olds in neat in moco? |
Covid has scrambled a lot of waitlists. When I was looking in July even places that usually had long wait times had immediate openings. My advice would be to start calling. |
