| Unexplained secondary infertility at age 33. I’m definitely overweight (did not lose the weight from #1) but my cycles are regular and I don’t have PCOS. I want to lose weight, but the only way I’m able to is by drastically cutting calories. I don’t want my body to go into starvation mode and prevent conception. Should I just not do anything? |
| This is a question for your doctor. It’s so individual. Some women need a little extra weight to conceive (I have several friends who didn’t until they did) and others don’t... |

It’s not all or nothing. If you can’t lose weight without starving yourself, consider Weight Watchers, a nutritionist or even therapy.
Of course getting your body into it’s healthiest state is helpful for conceiving. But of course it may not be THE answer. |
| I would try cleaning up your diet but not starving yourself. Intermittent fasting should help as well. |

Extra weight affects hormones even if it hasn’t done so enough to show up in your cycle. Too little weight is the same. And the range is likely a bit different for each individual. It may be difficult to determine if your weight is an issue, but certainly being healthier won’t hurt.
Sometimes different types of exercise or different foods (rather than drastic calorie cuts), or intermittent fasting can shake up metabolism. I’m sure u know ur body, but may be helpful to talk to someone for ideas. Starvation certainly isn’t ideal. And neither is making yourself crazy. And even if you don’t lose everything you may think you want to lose, a little can make a difference. |
