Cutting daycare back to 50% capacity while reopening ESCAPE ROOMS.

Which daycares are over 50% capacity? How are they going to decide who gets booted out?

Previously, they had been at 75%, I think. The state is allowing them to be at full capacity.

No clue how they’ll decide who gets kicked out.

Not daycares- child care "centers." Big distinction

Reducing childcare center capacity while opening escape rooms and watering down the case criteria ("Amends the number of average days that trigger the suspension of the program from three days to seven days.") to allow bars and restaurants to continue serving alcohol after 10pm is peak MoCo stupidity. No wonder the county is last place in the region.

From the brief information that’s been made available so far, it isn’t clear what they mean. We’ll have to see what the actual executive order says. Will the county be establishing its own licensing office to field questions and help providers navigate the new rules? The current licensing specialists are actually state employees, right?

From a 2015 study done by the county, approximately 75% of the county's licensed child care capacity for full-day programs is provided within centers. Yes, there are many more in-home child care providers, but these are much, much smaller.

And even some in-home providers are licensed as centers.

Vote every single one of them out.

MSDE previously had a 15-person limit per room. Based on the regulatory maximum group size of 20 for ages 3-4, the 15-person limit was informally described as operating at 75%.

The 15-person limit was lifted by the state in early October. Since that time, Montgomery County had asked child care providers to stick to that prior limit, but didn't institute their own restrictions before this proposed executive order. As of right now, the only requirement on Montgomery County child care providers is to follow state guidance.

If 50% capacity applies to centers on a room by room basis, the reduction hits infants and toddlers most. No center can operate with 2 teachers per 3 infants.

What is the best way to give feedback against this?

Covid cases among children are skyrocketing nation wide. Unless you are an essential worker who must report in person, keep your kids home!

There's a public hearing in 2 days. You can register to testify, and the deadline is tomorrow.

Also, it's a Council hearing, so email the at-large member as well as your local member with your opinion.

Unlike the Board of Ed, the Council members seem to be more responsive to such feedback.

Shut up. I am in litigation and can work from home but not while I have my kids. And they aren’t skyrocketing here because we wear masks. Tell Wisconsin and the Dakotas to get their act together and stop shaking working parents
