| If DCPS is never going back for hybrid or possibly any type of in person learning, how do I find a teacher who will teach outdoors? What should it cost? |
If its indoors and socially distanced, I'll join. I have a 2nd grader. |

It probably should cost about what a DCPS teacher earns, plus both halves of FICA tax, retirement contribution, and employer portion of health insurance. Because I don't think DCPS is going to hire that person back if they leave midyear.
Now if you're looking for a college student taking a semester off, you might be able to get away with less. |
| Are you able to do it yourself? I would highly recommend homeschool. If not, consider hiring more of a babysitter/college student (than teacher) and have them supervise the DL or buy them a homeschool curriculum? DCUM has a homeschooling page. You likely do not need a "full teacher". They will be hard to come by and $$$$ and it's getting cold (outdoor angle). |
| We hired a teacher away from DCPS for the year. Paid her $65K. |
I hope you know that it'll be hard to find someone who will be willing to stay outdoors in the coming winter months with small kids. Plus with cold winds and other outdoor distractions, the kids aren't going to be too interested in studying either. |
| We pay 75/hr. |
