Anyone use Depends postpartum?

Anonymous
I read somewhere that some women wear Depends instead of pads after childbirth. I HATED wearing the bulky pads last time, but found them very necessary. Has anyone tried it? Not sure how much fluid those things hold, but it seems like a great alternative.

didn't try the depends, but i found the always infinity pads (which are relatively new) to be MUCH more comfortable than any other pad. they have wings, too. yay. gotta love wings.

No, never tried them. They are like a maxi pad sewn into underwear though, so I'm not sure you'd be cutting down on bulk by using them. You can buy fairly thin maxi pads. I used Always ultra thins and they worked fine for me.

no, although I did consider it. I had a lot of post partum leakage. but using normal bulk pads kept me changing them as much as I should. which was a lot. oh the bladder. I still have moments of panick (sneezing come to mind).

i have two kids. the first time i used pads and the second time i used Depends. I liked Depends so much better, at least for the first few days. Then I switched to Infinity pads. The Depends were surprisingly less bulky than pads, and had no leaks, and I didn't have to worry about them shifting around. I thought they were so helpful. They were thinner and more comfortable than I expected. I would definitely use them again.

I did with kid number two for the really really heavy flow days where one would typically need to use those huge hospital like pads. I far preferred the depends.

When I was able I switched to the thin kind -- but I would buy again.

I LOVED them. I never worried about leaking even during the first week pp when I could not quite make it to the toilet in time.

The midwives recommended them for labor and they were very useful since my water broke early. They hold more liquid than I imagined possible and they are very comfortable. You can empty a completely full bladder into one and there is no leaking at all...though it will be bulky afterwards of course!

I'm giving my remaining supply to my sister in law who is due in May and I will definitely use them next time
