Springfield subdivisions: Saratoga and Middle Valley

DH and I are looking to move from our Burke townhouse into a SFH. I saw a few properties listed in the Saratoga and Middle Valley subdivisions of Springfield that fit our basic criteria and am hoping folks can offer some insight into those neighborhoods.

Lots of kids?
A sense of community?
Nice size back yards?

Pros: They have lots of baby stuff for sale on craig's list.
Cons: Really bad traffic for those who work in Tysons/DC/MD.
