winter youth soccer

Anonymous
Hi all, it seems like this forum is more for club soccer and above, but I wonder if there are any good winter programs for younger elementary-aged kids? I am hoping to find one that will play outdoors, but if there is indoor soccer I am looking for leagues that require masks. Outdoors I am ok with masks optional, and will just have my daughter wear one even if not all of the other kids do. TIA and sorry if this was the wrong place to post!

Vienna is doing an outdoor league

OP, I don’t know where you live but MSI Classic (ie select soccer) just announced that they will do a Winter League. Select soccer is one level above Rec. MSI is located in MoCo and they indicated they will play exclusively on turf fields.

We are in Rockville and more than willing to drive for a bit for a good league!

Appreciate the info!

I've been thinking about this as well. I have DC's who play travel and would rather not do indoor programs. But Vienna and Mclean are doing outdoor rec seasons which could be a great way to keep them in tune along with drills at home...

As someone mentioned, MSI is doing outdoor. Unclear yet if just Classic or rec, and how young it will go. Supposedly more info in next day or two. Brit Am has some outdoor options in November and December. MD Soccerplex will have an outdoor league but not sure if you already need a team or possible to get put on one. Bethesda is doing outdoor Juniors (ages 4-7) and outdoor futsal league U8-14; like Soccerplex I'm not sure how getting on a team may work if not coming with a team already.

I'm sure SoFive will do something (unless MoCo goes backwards on indoor, which is possible), but it will be extremely limited because of capacity restrictions and I don't know if they'd even get the interest for a league with risk tolerance for indoor, even if allowed.

NOVA will have plenty of options, I'm sure.

Since you are in Rockville, you should consider joining a MSI Classic team for the Winter Outdoor League. They will play all games on turf fields at Julius West MS, Whitman HS or Einstein HS. All three locations have new turf fields.

Please let us know what they are! My son tried out for Alexandria Futsal, but based on the group he was put in for the first tryout, it is looking bleak. Would love to hear other options.

Bethesda futsal will add you to a team or you can bring your own team.
