Halloween versus take out

Anonymous
why can't my kids go door to door but most people are doing take out and the drive thru (I am too)? If someone is sick, I hope they dont go to work and I hope they wouldn't answer the door. In both cases, everyone is masked. One is done outside and the other in a building. One I am in front of someone for a few seconds and the other I could be in a store for 5-15 minutes. The main difference is I can "quarantine" the candy but I will immediately eat the take out.

Stop rationalizing what is ok or not. If you ant to go door to door, go ahead. Those of us with common sense don't want you at our house and don't come. You are why we cannot open up schools.

I agree, OP.

Because I'm getting take out? Even Dr Fauci gets take out. You didn't explain how it's any different. Either add something intelligent, or go troll somewhere else.

You think hourly wage workers who don’t get sick leave routinely call in when they might be sick?

I learned early on in this pandemic to not try to "figure out" contradictory recommendations as it made my head spin. Now, I read medical journal articles and try to remember how & where my family got sick in the past (and avoid those activities/places).

Using the above analysis, trick or treating is ok.

No, because you are going house to house trick or treating and don't care about the spread of covid. You are a troll to even post this for attention.

I'm consistent: no take out, no working in the office, no in-person school. And obviously no trick or treating.

Oh FFS stop complaining. It is Halloween. Just be a good neighbor. Are you gonna keep complying about every single thing until this is over? You are exhausting.

But we're not going inside the house and we're wearing masks.

Op we live in moco and are planning to TOT it looks like many neighbors have out trick or treat signs. Not all but enough. Go ahead. Obviously we will wear masks.

We're trick or treating with masks on. If you don't want to participate, keep your porch light off.

I'm a DP and I have wondered the same thing. I do care about the spread of covid, but I truly don't understand why grabbing candy from a bowl on someone's step (not even the person to person tradition) is more risky than a dozen other things that are NOT being discouraged by public health officials. Take out ia a pretty direct analogy. In most jurisdictions even indoor dining is open and not explicitly discouraged the way trick or treating is. Why?

Porch light is always on for security. We won’t decorate so you get the hint.

When you get takeout, you are performing one transaction the parameters of which you, as a customer, mostly control. When your kids are trick or treating, they are having 10-50+ interactions with people whose COVID prevention behaviors can’t be predicted or dictated.

You asked.
