Help please.
In late August I discovered a tile tracker in the lining of my purse. It was placed there by my husband. My house internet data overage that month was 1600$$!! Was the tile using our home wifi to send location to my husband’s app? There was no overage in prior months even though kids were home 24/7. They went to camp in late July so weren’t home to use YouTube etc. Is there anything else nefarious he could have done to cause this? Spyware/listening devices? Thanks! |
| Tile would not do that and most house plans have unlimited data. |
|
Look into a different data plan.
Change your WiFi password and don’t share it with your kids. Connect devices yourself so you know what’s eating data. Review the apps downloaded on their devices/phones. Turn off cellular data for things that don’t need to connect this way. I agree with pp that I don’t think a tile can do that. I would look around your house in case you ex put in a nanny cam or something. |
| Can you check what devices are connected to your router? I would be worried about a 24 hour video feed. |
| Are you cheating? |
| Yeah I'd cancel all old internet service and get a new provider in my name only. |
| Unfortunately, technology can make it all too easy for someone to stalk you. Here is some good information to review: https://www.techsafety.org/resources-survivors |
No. He got to see just how boring my life is while at work. Drop off and pick up from camp, grocery runs for us and my parents. He has paranoia because he overdid it with the nose candy. He thinks I’m a mafia boss and had been poisoning him. Also may have thought I was cheating because I wasn’t having sex with him - but the aforementioned accusations didn’t exactly enamour me to him. |
| * while HE’S at work ^^ |
I am so tech-dumb I’d have to Google how to do that. |
Op, I didn’t realize this was your husband is still living in the house with you. If you change the WiFi password, it will cut off extraneous devices. Call the customer support #. You can also just switch off the router. Please clear your browser history. The stalker behavior of a spouse is creepier than an ex. |
| Your post is fake. Tile does not cause data overages. |
It’s not fake. Like I said I’m not tech savvy, and what I read online said that the tile has to be near a device with a Bluetooth or wireless connection. So I thought it’s sending signals to him by piggy backing off our wifi. Hence my question. It was also suspicious to me that prior to the billing cycle in which he put the tile in my purse, we had ZERO overage, and suddenly we had 1600$ the cycle that he was tracking me. |
Thank you. He was living with us at the time but has since moved out. He’s upset I won’t tell him about my secret mafia. Drugs fry brains. |
| seems strange. |
