Infertility Support and Discussion
| I am 12 dpo and tested yesterday morning, last night and this morning (I know, I am obsessed)! The pregnancy line (for lack of a better word) isn't getting darker. Anyone have this happen to them? I am thinking it means this will probably end-up a chemical because I know the hormone amounts jump pretty dramatically from the start. |
| I wouldn't put much weight to this particular indicator. Relax. |
| go and get a blood test from your OB. |
| HPTs are not quantitative tests. Some women never get a dark line even with super high betas. Agree with other posters - get a beta done. |
| Yup...agree with the PPs. I took two pregnancy tests 16 and 17 days post egg retrieval for IVF (which is the same as DPO) and got two really light negatives each day. Went and got my beta done the next day and it was really high...over 700. The blood test is the real teller. Good luck! |
| Sorry PP here...I meant two really light POSITIVES...I'm a dingy. |

I would stay cautiously optimistic and go for a blood test asap.
You are still pretty early. I have also read that the reason they test betas for doubling every 48 hrs is because in the first 24 hrs of any 48 hr period, they sometimes go up very little. So dr's don't check them 2 days in a row b/c that comparison doesn't provide useful information. I know HPTs are not quantitative, but I have also had the experience of tests not getting any darker over a period of several days, and both were chemical pregnancies. Not true for everyone, and some people never get a dark line on an HPT, but for me, I just "knew" something wasn't right when the lines never got darker on my tests. So I would stay hopeful, but also try to keep your emotions in check until you get the beta results. I don't say this to be a downer & I don't think you should count yourself out by any means. I sincerely hope you get a great beta result. Good luck! |

This happened to me once and I had a chemical PG.
This also happened to me and everything was fine. I hope its the latter for you! |
| It takes a few days for it to get darker. You are basing this on one test taken maybe 24 hours apart...not enough time. |

i have IVF twins and a singleton and took about a zillion pregnancy tests during the first weeks of those 2 pregnancies and never had a dark line. It freaked me out both times but all was well (and ironically I had sky high betas each time). I wouldn't put any wieght on the color of the line on the test.
good luck! |
