Long shot, I know. But we are looking for someone part-time. Maybe 8-12 hours a week for my daughter plus 3 other students in her class. They are all 4-5 years old and are in PK4. They attend Yu Ying in Brookland, which means they are learning mandarin.
Ideally, we'd love to find a Mandarin speaker to help them through their virtual learning 2-3x / week (4-5 hours per day). We have been doing Tuesdays and Thursdays from about 9a - 1:30p. But I think we could be open to expanding those hours and/or including a 3rd day. This would involve helping them get on their ipads and joined in for their Zoom classes, helping to complete various assignments, and generally playing/interacting/reinforcing concepts with them. We have been floating locations around the different family homes. 3 out of 4 families are east of the river in NE (Deanwood area). Additionally, we would want this person to potentially start ASAP. The duration of this is currently unknown but likely to last until mid-December -- though this could change. Mandarin is certainly preferred in order to help create an "immersive" environment for them. Just to post an update. The school literally just sent an email stating that they will remain virtual until January 22. So we would be looking for someone now until then. |
Put this in the nanny forums. |
It is cross-posted actually. And since it's not really looking for a nanny, but rather someone to help lead / teach them, it's not exactly appropriate for that location either. Hence the reason I've posted it here as well. |
Advertise on college boards, at any centers that teach mandarin, etc. Be prepared to pay $10-20/hour/child for someone without teaching experience and $30-50/hour/child for someone with nannying/teaching experience. |
Yep. Mandarin is hugely in demand as a language for kids to learn, there aren't that many Mandarin speakers in the DC area, and there certainly aren't a lot with childcare experience. |
