orthodontist recommended removal of wisdom teeth for 15yo

Has anyone had this recommended for their child by the orthodontist? It seems very young but I guess they are wanting to protect all of the work they did. Thoughts?

General idea is that they are easier to remove before the bone and root are fully formed and when healing is faster and easier.

My 15 yr old is having one removed. It is pushing against the molar next to it.

My son had them removed at 14 on recommendation from the orthodontist.

I had mine removed at 18 because they were sideways. They can pretty much tell if they will eventually have to be removed by 15, so if there's an issue with even 1 of them interfering with other teeth I'd get them all out and be done with it.

My DS had his out at 15, maybe even 14. He got all of his teeth very early and the last thing we wanted was to mess up his beautiful teeth after braces.

I had mine out at 14. I have a small mouth and they were coming in sideways and threatening to push up against all of the other teeth and wreck havoc.

DS has x-rays at the dentist today. He only has two wisdom teeth erupting so far but they’re growing on straight so far, so we’ll wait and watch.

Had all of mine pulled in HS before they even came up. It was fine.

Yes. Got them out over spring break that year.

I asked our dentist about whether my dd’s incoming wisdom teeth would mess up prior orthodotwork. She said the orthodontists will usually tell you that will happen but research doesn’t bear that out. Recommended a panoramic X-ray To make a real assessment of need and said removal wasn’t urgent.. you might like a second opinion.
