| Looking to get some pricing information - Potomac has it on their website but can’t find for Bethesda, MSI Academy, etc. Are they all around $2,000 like Potomac? TIA! |
It depends on the age group and league. I would contact them directly. |
| NP - I always find it interesting that people never want to disclose costs on this board. Across all sports people never give up the scoop.....can't figure out why that is......its anonymous....what do you think people will come flocking and your kid will lose the spot? Very odd |

Depends on the age. Potomac starts at $2,000 and goes up to $2,600, except for the very young kids who are more like $1,400.
My understanding is that Bethesda is more expensive. MSI starts around $2,200 so broadly similar to Potomac I think. |
Bethesda and Potomac are comparable. BSC is $2000 for U8 (less practices and tournaments) and about $2600 for U9-U14 (not sure about above that age). Notably this does not include Futsal but does include one week of summer soccer camp (~$300 value). |
| OP here - thank you so much - so helpful! |
+1 this sounds right for BSC . . . There are price variations by level as you get into U13 on - bc of different leagues. Then the out of pocket from longer travel can also increase. |

MSI, Recreation is under $100 per player.
MSI, Classic depends on if you have a paid coach or parent volunteer coach, but if parent, about $135 per player not including uniform: https://www.msisoccer.org/Default.aspx?tabid=956602 I only have kids playing in Recreation and Classic, so I don't know about MSI Academy |
Bethesda, Potomac were almost exactly the same when we checked for U13, U11. MSI Academy was slightly less expensive but it really depended on the actual team. MSI does list some of the costs https://www.msisoccer.org/Default.aspx?tabid=927341 |
Classic team prices vary tremendously depending on the number of practices and whether they have a private coach involved or consulting. That is low end but I've seen it as high as $300-500 a season so two times that for the year. |

The professionally coached Classic teams are now actually more like $600 a season or even more from what I have seen. While certainly less than travel, it can add up to not a whole lot less when you factor in winter, tournaments, and how much more is included in the travel clubs. Sounds crazy but true. Go look at Brit Am, Fusion and the multiple other mini clubs popping up for Classic. If you have no interest in winter it is definitely cheaper. All bets are off this winter with COVID and what travel will look like.
From someone who has done Potomac and Bethesda, like others mentioned, Bethesda tends to run several hundred more. But, you get the week of camp (Potomac didn't do that when I was with them) and I have found Bethesda's uniforms to be cheaper than what you have to pay at Potomac. Much better deal at PJ's as opposed to Soccer.com (not to mention ugly) both for Adidas. |
Maybe because this question has been asked 10 billion times on this forum and the cost remaims near the same each time Simple search in the archives will bring it up. |
| At BSC the top team (MLS) is slightly less than lower teams, however the top team is much harder to get on and the travel costs are greater. |
I would think twice before joining professionally coached Classic Teams. They are not any better than the typical parent coached Classic Teams at least on the Girls’ teams. Prior to playing travel, my DD played on a parent coached Classic team and they routinely beat paid coached teams. In my humble opinion, if you’re thinking of joining a professional coached Classic team, you might as well join a travel team instead. |

On the boys side my observation is that the professionally coached classic teams are a good medium between travel teams and the free-for-alls that some parent-coached teams can be.
Some parent coached teams may win b/c they may have one kid or two kids who are very good but the team does not look like they are playing soccer. It's kick and run. When you look at the professionally coached teams they look like they are passing and spacing well and have a strategy. It depends on your goals and your child's goals but I think there's an obvious hole in the market for these types of teams which is why they are gaining in popularity IME. |
