Weird cramping issue

Anonymous
So I am 6 days past my 3 unmedicated IUI. Tonight I've been experiencing a bit of cramping in a very limited spot - just above the hair line, center right side in a space about the size of my fingertip. Anyone experienced this before. Not terrible cramping, but just enough to be really irritating. Been going on for about an hour and a half, off and on.

Any thoughts?

could be anything -- from implantation to gas. i don't mean to be rude but analyzing every burp or twinge will make you crazy, disappointed and just about anything else.

I'm trying not to over-analyze, which is why I asked if anyone had any experience with this. I don't get cramps - ever - and as someone who has stomach issues to begin with, this cramping is very different than anything I've had before, both in location and feeling. Since I don't get cramps, I thought I would ask.

I'm also not trying to be rude, but we've been TTC for long enough now that I don't expect to end up pregnant during an unmedicated IUI, nor do I expect that the cramping was something major or telling. I just thought I'd ask if anyone ever had cramps like that, because I haven't and thought that someone might have.

It could be implantation which happens a few days after insemination.

I get all kinds of pings and weird cramping my 2ww. And, honestly, I tend to get it more on my BFN cycles than my BFP cycles. It definitely could be implantation, but could also just be your body driving you crazy! Hope it is the former....

I definitely had strange cramping in my 2ww after IUI's and after IVF, it's impossible to not take notice of these things especially when you are so hopeful that it means something good may be happening. My IUI's were BFN's and I had less cramping with my IVF which was a BFP but neither were medicated so it's unlikely due to overstimulated ovaries. I think I was used to it by the time we did IVF so that may be why it didn't bother me as much. GL

OP - are you on Prometrium? If so, could be that. Or, it could be attempted implantation. I get it every 2-3 cycles and assume there is an embryo attempting to implant, although no BFP from it. (I had a lot of cramping in the early stages of previous pregnancies, so that is why I attribute it to attempted implantation.)

OP here - thanks to all of you. Sorry if I came off rude in my first response.

I'm not on prometrium yet, though I usually start it about 7 days after the IUI - which would be today. Waiting for a call from the Dr. since I the clinic isn't open and I couldn't get to it even if it was.

I guess what I am realizing is that every IUI is different. The cramping issue I had last night stopped and hasn't come back. What I can't stand are all of these new aches and pains that have no explanation and which randomly appear and disappear. There is no rhyme or reason and most of what I am experiencing is new - like the cramps.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm not trying to read anything into it, I'm really just trying to figure out if my body is doing freaky things or if some of these things are "normal" experiences for women going through IUIs.

Thanks again!

@ OP... I just had my first IUI on Tuesday w/injectables and now on Estrace and Prometrium. I too am having mild cramping and twinges, but I am not looking into it. As much as I want to imagine that it's implantation and that this will finally be our time after 18 months of trying, I feel better downplaying every bump, twinge, and cramp because it makes it hurt a little less when I get that BFN. Best of luck to you!!!

I did IUIs and IVF and for the cycle that finally worked, cramping was my first symptom. It happened off an on for about a week, starting several days after my embryo transfer (which would equate to about 6-7 days after an IUI in my case). It was different and a little stronger than the cramps I got with my period or when I was on prometrium/endometrin, and it almost always happened at night. I'll cross my fingers for you!
