Constipation in kids, anyone have remedies that work? Prunes, apples? Anything I can order on amazon? |
Prune concentrate or Calm gummies |
Dried coconut is also supposted to be good |
Squatty potty may help.
Have a water bottle accessible throughout the day. Also have your kid sit on the toilet after meals (no longer than 5 minutes) to help stimulate the elimination reflex. Long toilet sits actually makes constipation worse. |
Have you tried daily probiotic? |
Daily mirilax |
Pedia-Lax chewable tablets work for our 2.5 yo with occasional constipation. |
5-6 prunes at bedtime, maybe mixed in with another fruit like apple, or with yogurt.
In the morning, sprinkle cinnamon generously on breakfast (I usually have oatmeal, but bread/bagel with some margarine, cinnamon and a sprinkle of sugar works well, too). Cinnamon stimulates the bowels. Drink a few glasses of water/liquid. Hydrate until it happens. This routine has worked for me for 15 years. --longtime sufferer from constipation issues |
Thisnis the only thing that works for our 4.5 year old. We can skip one day but not more. She eats a lot of fruit and veg and limited dairy and breads already. |
Agreed. My child had low muscle tone and daily Mirilax will likely just be part of her life for the foreseeable future, because no amount of dietary changes can make up for her bowel muscles not being strong or efficient enough to do their job. |
Has, not had. |
Try prune juice. More importantly limit dairy and refined carbs.
Miralax should be your last resort. |
Poached pears
