Autism and Age of Mother

Anonymous
I saw a news story yesterday saying that your chances of having an autistic child are 50% greater at the age of 40 than 25. I'm wondering of the moms on this board with a child who has an ASD diagnosis, were any of you over 40. I'm asking because it seems like every year they come out with another hypothesis.

I was 25 when I had my autistic son, my husband was 27, so we don't fit the profile, I guess.

I was 37 and my husband 36. I think genetics (family history) plays a much larger role.

I was 35 with my son, who is probably on the spectrum (no official diagnosis). I was 37 with my daughter, who is actually quite advanced for her age.
